The location was easy walking distance from the train station, next to Calter Hill, with short walks to the Royal Mile, shops, museums, parks, etc. We climbed Calter Hill and Arthur’s Seat, toured the castle, went to several museums, and visited the extensive botanical garden. We enjoyed returning to the hotel tucked into a quiet street with a fireplace in the reception room. (Even in May, a fire was welcome.) For breakfast, there was a choice of cooked food along with the continental breakfast spread, or cold food only. There is a recommended restaurant (Howi’s) within steps of the hotel, but it was booked when we checked. We found good casual food places a few blocks away on Rose St.

The staff here are all wonderfully kind and helpful. This was my favourite thing about staying here. I also think the price I got, for a fairly last-minute booking, was not bad, and the room was a good size, comfortable, and very clean. The hotel is housed in a beautiful, historic building and I simply loved the classic interior decoration. Very good location, pretty much right around the corner from the high street, although it is a bit of an uphill walk so make sure you wear good shoes. Lots of good restaurants on the same street. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would consider staying here again if I ever came back to Edinburgh.

I have stayed at this hotel on 3 occasions as it is a lovely and clean hotel in an ideal central location. A very quick walk from Waverley train station. The staff have always been helpful. I have loved the view from two of the rooms I stayed in so far (one overlooking Old Calton Burial Ground) and was a nice spacious room, and the other had a view of the front facing Calton Hill which was also lovely. I love the Brodies coffee available in the rooms too! I have recommended this hotel to people and would stay again.

A good warm and spacious room with a large comfortable bed ... clean linen and towels...11am checkout was really useful for my journey home.the members of staff I encountered were pleasant but not enthusiastic..the reception lounge was a comfortable place to be with drinks available if I had required...the location was perfect for me...the room drinks offer was good...also I like the addition of a small fridge ..over all I was satisfied and would visit again..

Beautiful accommodation almost in the city center. Excellent accessibility from the airport, with public transport stops all around; you can reach the main street on foot in just a few minutes. The hotel’s common areas are very nice, and while the rooms are small, they are completely adequate. We tried the Scottish breakfast and received a full plate of food, but on the other hand, it wasn't anything we couldn't find nearby for a lower price.
